The recent national recognition of two of our colleges was particularly gratifying, given the university’s central focus in our VISION twenty12 strategic plan: to enrich academic quality across the university.

DePaul’s part-time MBA program at the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business advanced to No. 6 in the annual rankings just published by U.S.News & World Report, which are closely watched by prospective students and colleges across the country. In addition, our College of Law was ranked among the top 100 law schools in the country and its health law and intellectual property programs were rated among the best.

This year marks the 13th time that our MBA program has been ranked in the Top 10. Our nearly 1,600 MBA students are taught by faculty who bring a blend of scholarly achievement and real-world experience into the classroom. The ranking speaks to the dedication of Dean Ray Whittington and his faculty and staff to provide a premier graduate education to professionals in the Chicagoland business community and beyond.

The College of Law placed 88th in the U.S.News rankings in the 2009 guide, tied with other quality law schools such as St. John’s, Catholic University and the University of Nevada Las Vegas. In addition, we were recognized for the school’s diverse enrollment. This is the third consecutive year that DePaul has been ranked among the top 100 law schools in U.S.News.

Our law specialty centers also were recognized in the rankings, with the intellectual property program rating 11th and the health law program coming in at 14th, tied with Harvard.

I applaud Dean Glen Weissenberger for the College of Law’s continuing commitment to provide our students with a challenging and rigorous course of study that prepares them to make important contributions to the legal community and to the world.

The latest U.S.News recognition of our graduate schools of business and law reflects our exceptional faculty and strong academic programs that are among the best in the country. I am grateful for this commitment to academic excellence.
